My All Natural Non-Toxic Makeup Routine

Last September I realized I had to make some pretty significant changes in reducing my exposure to toxins in my life to heal my autoimmune disease. While the toxins found in most beauty products are dangerous for everyone, they’re especially harmful for someone like me with Hashimoto’s because the endocrine-disrupting chemicals can quickly cause estrogen dominance with directly affects the thyroid, immune system and adrenals. After reading Dr. Izabella Wentz’s book Hashimoto’s Protocol I made a commitment to completely overhaul my makeup routine. If you’re looking to do an overhaul of your makeup collection or just to replace a few products AND if you want to know the non-natural makeup product I just cant quit, keep reading!

The Makeup + Skincare I Never Travel Without

We’ve done our fair share of traveling this summer and I often reach for the same things to pack in my makeup + toiletry bags. With outfits I can be risky and try new things but with my skincare and makeup, I always stick to my tried and true favorites. Many of these are items I’ve been using for years so you can see some in action in my makeup tutorial video from last year right here. Aside from my skincare, favorite concealer and eyebrow product, here are the things that never get left behind:

Every Day Makeup Tutorial

One of the things I most enjoy watching on YouTube is a good ‘every day makeup’ tutorial. No fancy slides, no cuts or edits- just real life, real time getting ready. My son watches one show (about 20 minutes) every morning during my daughter’s nap. I have exactly that long to get dressed and put together for the day, so I have the routine down to a science. This is the look I wear every day, which I snapped exactly one photo of before heading out the door and realized only now my nightgown was hanging in the background and my attempt at a half-smile failed royally. Real life at it’s finest!
