It feels a bit extreme to call this a Babymoon because we were only away for two nights, but LISTEN–a kid-free trip is a kid-free trip and it was everything we needed and more. You know how I feel about a great hotel, friends, and the Lake Austin Resort and Spa might make my top 7. After doing tons of research before O’s 40th birthday a couple years ago, I absolutely fell in love with this hotel. I sent him there on his own for four days and had so much fun scheduling his meals (all included), booking him spa treatments and taking advantage of all the complimentary classes they offer. He came home absolutely raving about his stay and when I tell you this man has experienced some luxurious hotels in his lifetime, I’m not exaggerating. He said it’s one of his favorites ever and I knew it’d be the perfect spot for a super special stay.
lake life favorites:
Firstly, I don’t recommend staying during Memorial Day weekend because it made an already very expensive resort that much more pricey, but for us it was the only time that worked so we bit the bullet. I highly recommend booking as far in advance as possible as well as taking advantage of their spa packages and things like that while booking your room.
Since we can typically only spend two to three nights away, we like to maximize our days away as much as possible. This means we almost always leave first thing in the morning so we can drop our bags off at the front desk and head to spa treatments. I can’t recommend this routine enough. By the time you finish your luxuriating–your sauna and hot tub and complimentary spa lunch and all the things–your room will likely be ready. It’s magical.
We knew our main priority was rest so we planned on spending the entire stay at the resort, but if you’re visiting from far away you can certainly venture out to see more of what Austin has to offer. For us, this resort is all we could ever need.
We split our time eating by the lake, eating in the corner table in the dining room and for our last night, as always, eating in the room. Every single meal is complimentary and phenomenal, but I could eat the vegan/gluten free pancakes are the stuff of dreams. I also loved the honey mustard ricotta salad (hold the ricotta for me,) the steak and the pork chops. My goodness. I miss it already. There are also snacks, teas and coffee options available in the main spaces all day every day.
If you love interior design as much as me, this place will take your breath away. Every detail is so thoroughly considered and I liken it to English Country meets Martha’s Vineyard. Such a fun, warm, inspiring space.
We skipped the water sports this time around, but I can report the rooms are prime for a reliable midday nap and laying both pool and lakeside is a phenomenal way to spend an entire afternoon. I couldn’t have dreamed up a better way to celebrate 12 years of marriage and our last solo trip before we’re parents of four. So grateful to be doing life alongside this guy and also extra grateful for this bit of paradise being just a four hour road trip away.
Wow, this looks like SUCH a beautiful property, Jill! So glad you guys were able to get away!
Thank you so much!!! Still on cloud 9💛
So happy for you & OJ and soon to have a new baby to love, hold & adore. Love you, Bev
Looks like a relaxing and beautiful trip. We love Austin. Did you intend to leave out the name of the resort?
Hi! No I didn’t! Sorry, I wrote it so many times in my newsletter I didn’t realize I only mentioned it in the title here—it’s just that, the Lake Austin Resort!!
