When you’re off social media for a few months, you begin to receive phone-calls and texts saying, “I NEED TO SEE PHOTOS! I MISS YOU!” So I figured it’d be a great time for an old fashioned photo dump to share a little snippet of life lately. Let’s jump in, shall we?
My youngest sister’s baby shower was this past weekend and while it’s always a beast to pull together, the reward of making someone feel celebrated is always worth it. We had the best time with so many women we adore and the game of Prenatal Pictionary just took things over the top. A little note, I got the idea of affogatos, an Italian dessert that is quite literally just ice cream and espresso, stuck in my head so those empty little sundae cups were awaiting their transformation into affogatos. I topped them with pirouettes cookies and they were a hit- highly recommend! And at $1.95 each, I can’t recommend the sundae cups enough. I’m a sucker for a dish with a specific purpose and these have become my favorite.
We went to a ‘Hip-Hop’ party for an Easter egg hunt with the babes and my sisters with a strict 90’s Hip-Hop theme. As you can see, I took it very seriously. The kids and I ran into my dad at Whole Foods on our way home from the party and he had to do a double take at everyone because we looked the part for real. Moments like this always make me have to pinch myself- we live close enough to my parents to run into them at the store. Special, right?
There was a three-year stretch where work and my responsibilities as wife and mother felt so overwhelming that I said no to pretty much everything outside of those parameters. This meant I had absolutely no time for lunches or evenings with my sisters and after a while, I felt so lonely and low that I knew my life was out of balance. For the past couple months, I’ve been meeting up with my sisters for a lunch date once a week while the big kids are at school and it has been nothing short of life giving. It also means the toddler trio is getting a whoooole lot of time together, which I love. The shot on the couch above is after a lunch at Restoration Hardware Restaurant downtown Dallas and I absolutely cannot recommend it enough. I hear everything is spectacular, but I can only vouch for the burger with bacon on top. *chefs kiss.*
If you’ve caught up on our Coffee + Crumbs podcast, you’ll know about my drinks-on-the-nightstand habit. You’ll be happy to know that I’m trying to break it so I took this photo at the end of my work day, collecting my cups. I’m growin’ y’all. People laugh at me for wearing actual outfits to work in my own bed, but getting dressed every day is just who I am. If you know me, you know my love for these pants knows no bounds and despite having two pairs, I have my eye on the navy pair for summer.
Our kids’ last day of school is only two weeks away. I can’t quite believe it. We’re well into summer planning and though the stretch from now until June is a bit wild, July and August are smooth sailing. I hope this felt like a little installment of Instagram Stories, friends!
Love hearing and seeing these little snippets of life. So glad you’re doing well. The kids are getting so big! Happy weekend!
Thanks so much, Terri! Growing like WEEDS!
