We’re back with another edition of ‘If I Were Shopping,” friends. If you missed the first edition, this is something that was born out of a spending freeze and incase you haven’t caught on, in a season of building our home there has been a whole lot of that going on. I haven’t made a personal purchase since the start of August aside from replacing my skincare and hair products and as a stylist, fashion lover and woman seeking to make her rental home cozier and more beautiful in the interim…this has been TOUGH. Tough, but good.
If you aren’t in a spending freeze and you see needs in your wardrobe or home and have disposable income set aside to fill those spaces, welcome to my current wish list. It’s a bit random, but these are the items that, if I were given a blank check today and told “this can ONLY be spent on clothing and stuff for the rental house. Nowhere else!” Well, these would be added to cart in 30 seconds flat.
black dress. My go-to dress is a strapless low back black Zimmerman dress I bought in 2011 and I know it’s time to add something a little more versatile to the wardrobe. This feels fancy but simple, sophisticated while still being sweet. It’s so much more casual than my other black dresses and if I’m honest, sometimes I just love a long sleeve to eliminate arm feelings!
printable art. I’m sourcing so much artwork for the house right now and while I’m trying to add as many antique pieces as possible, sometimes the budget just loves a printable, you know? This one is stunning.
floral dress. I love this version of the dress and am torn between this shape and the sweetheart neckline version but both tick all the boxes. there’s volume- but not too much volume- in both the sleeves and the skirt and I love the idea of pairing it with a chelsea boot, loafers or my velvet flats. For all the Holiday things on the calendar between late October and January and even worn with sandals come Spring, this would be a no-brainer
workout top and leggings. I own three pairs of these bad boys. The leggings have been my go-to as of late because, if I can be blunt, they completely eliminate camel toe. There is no center seam like in my other favorite leggings so the flattering level is absolutely through the roof. The price point is also incredible. the top is long enough so that it almost touches the tip of the leggings which is what I look for in a tank- I don’t need my stomach on display when I’m wearing athleisure or even when I’m actually working out. The material is buttery heaven and
tan dress. I’m absolutely obsessed with lightweight knit dresses in the winter and this one is *chef’s kiss.* See how it nips in at the waist and flares out just the slightest bit? And hits the perfect length of the calf? You can picture it with a cardigan or pea coat, can’t you. It’s the type of dress you can wear with sneakers or tall boots or pumps and they all work beautifully. Can you tell I’m craving warm shades of brown in my wardrobe?
shearling jacket. I shared this in my jacket roundup in the newsletter but it truly is one of the top things on my wishlist. I’m trying to convince O to let me get a couple things and then hunker down again til’ New Years- this is one of those items.
blazer and trousers. If you know me, you know how I feel about a talored set. This blazer has my name all over it. I truly don’t think I’d wear the set together, but it’s nice to have the option if a situation called for it!
brown boots. these are absolutely stunning and they come in a size 12. Need I say more? You know i’ll say more anyway. This is one of my favorite brands for shoes because the shape and silhouettes actually match the quality. These are constantly selling out but every color is on my wishlist, along with a money tree. this is the other pair of boots I’d snap up in a second but they don’t come in a 12. More for you, I suppose.
striped half-zip. Can’t ever have too many striped knits. I love the price point of this sweater most of all-but I also love the length. Many of my knits are cropped or tucking length and it’s nice to have one to throw on with leggings and boots and feel all fancy but really you’re hiding that you’re wearing an overnight pad and granny panties that go up to your belly button. The casual day hero.
personal stepper. Clearly one of these things doesn’t belong, but I wanted this to be a true representation of what I would purchase today if given the chance and this is literally number 3 on the list. I’ve seen women lose 60lbs with just this little stepper situation right here and given the fact that I’ve always loved the big stair master at the gym, this feels right up my alley.
tablecloth. I’ve had this version of this tablecloth for two years and rave about it constantly, but this new colorway is the stuff of Fall and Winter dreams. Can you imagine this with a bunch of taper candles and white flowers? Holiday hosting dreams come true.
cream sweater. THIS SWEATER. I need you to at least click the link and see it on the model. First of all, she has red hair and I have red hair right now so it feels right. Secondly, the SHAPE. Have you ever seen a better shape on a sweater? The sleeves! The neckline! The length! I’m smitten. I truly don’t have a plain white knit and this one is the one my heart is set on. This is the other dreamy knit I have my eye on.
glasses. I love hosting and I love a good tablescape even just for my own little family. These are so lovely.
loafers. I saw Shea McGee wearing these all last Fall and loved how they toughened outfits up a bit but also made simple sweater or tee+jeans outfits look super sleek and put together.
That’s my list, y’all! If you shop from this list, please let me know if the piece is everything I dreamed it’d be. Spoiler: I know it’s true.
