I went nearly a year without shopping for anything outside of a couple maternity tees, sweats that fit my pregnant body and fresh nursing bras. When it came time to pick up a few new things for my postpartum body, I leaned into my usual wardrobe rules: Whatever I add to my closet has to work with the existing pieces while bringing a bit of life along with it. Here are the pieces I’ve added over the past few months that have made the biggest impact.
Let’s move clockwise from top left, okay?
Cult Gaia Earrings. I pretty much rotate the same three earrings, all of which are variations of small gold hoops. While I definitely have my eye on some of the earrings I highlighted in this year’s Momiform, I saw these selling out like crazy in every shop and wanted to ensure I had these statement earrings on hand for the Chicago wedding and to spice up simple outfits.
Amazon Sunglasses. I absolutely cannot stand “dupes.” When I was studying fashion, these were called “fakes” and my distaste for them caused me to stop wearing monograms nearly altogether a decade ago. That being said…these sunglasses just happen to be imitation Celines and I hate to say that I love them just as much as my real Celine sunglasses and they’re 15 bucks. I wear these for fall sport Saturdays to hide just how tired my eyes are.
Sambas. I went with tan sambas, arguably the shoes of the season, and love that they go with everything
Straight Leg Denim. As a surprise to no one, none of my favorite jeans fit three months postpartum with baby number four. I had some super stretchy pairs to hold me over, but it was finally time to bite the bullet and size up to just be comfortable for the next coming months. I love these.
Denim Trenchcoat. This is an investment, friends, but O got this for me for Mother’s Day this year because it’s been at the top of my wish list. The shape couldn’t be cooler, it’s decently lightweight and I find it to be the coolest layering piece I’ve seen in a long time. It’s selling out like crazy but I highly recommend it.
Madewell Ballet Flats. I’m gonna be honest and say the first time I wore these, they killed my feet. I do have super wide potato feet though and I think they’re broken in now. I love the shape and the chocolate color is stunning.
Skims. I’ve owned these for years but needed to make sure I had the right size on hand for the wedding and these are a forever favorite.
Perfect Nursing Bra. I’ve been through a whoooole lot of nursing bras. These are the most flattering shape and the best hybrid before real bra and nursing bra. I know I’ll wear these long after I’m done nursing because they’re just that good.
Favorite Non-Toxic Candle. I’ve talked about this for years now. This candle is so pricey that it takes me months (six months to be exact) to repurchase once it’s gone. I finally bit the bullet because I love having this burning in the cozy months.
Blazer. This blazer is a cult favorite for a reason. The shape is perfectly oversized which means I can wear it layered over a sweater or hoodie and pulls together even the simplest of outfits.
Lashes. My eyelashes are all gone, y’all. You know what happens when I get eyelash extensions and then can’t make it to my fill appointments–I look like a thumb. I’ve been wearing these lashes whenever I’m with people to hold me over until my next full set and these just look like you have fantastic lashes, not like you have a lash strip on.
Yellow Knit (I also have this in red). This sweater is a tad bit itchy, but it’s one of my favorites by far. I love yellow in the Fall and I’m sure the rest of the world does to because this is nearly completely gone. The red, however, is still in stock and I have that one as well.
