September 28, 2018
If you’re reading this, it’s the last Friday in September! I really hope I’m the first person to tell you that. This month has absolutely flown by but I am proud to say we really cherished it. This was a bit of a difficult month (mostly due to the things shared in this post) but as is often the case in times of difficulty, the Lord was so near and tender to me. Here are a few things on my mind this week including a podcast that reframed my thinking, the 5 ingredient grain and refined sugar free chocolate chip cookies I canNOT stop making and my picks from the Shopbop Sale which ends this weekend!!
1. Okay. Lets talk about the Shopbop sale. I personally view sales like this as the only time I’ll pull the trigger on investment pieces for the colder months aside from Black Friday, of course. Those Stuart Weitzman over-the-knee boots you’ve had your eye on, the Canada Goose jacket, the Hunter rainboots, things like that. It’s also the perfect time to get your go-to fall sweater, this hat (seen in this post) boots or pair of jeans. I refuse to buy a coat full price so this is the time to do that as well!! Here’s the thing- even with this wonderful sale, most of these prices will likely (certainly) be higher than you could find somewhere else. But the quality is phenomenal. Just keep that in mind!
Cozy knits and blouses:
My favorite denim picks for the colder months:
Best dresses, overalls and jumpsuits (including the overalls I’m wearing above!) :
Fancy feet:
My favorite bags:
The perfect autumn and winter coat:
And for my fellow hat lady:
Some things I own that I consider favorites in my closet year after year are these jeans (which I get asked about every time I wear them), the over the knee boots I waited two years before splurging on, these $55 sunglasses, a version of this perfect black turtleneck jumpsuit which makes layering it under a dress or sweater super easy, these overalls, a Canada Goose coat which is a splurge and a half, but an absolute game changer if you live in a place where winters are intense, these classic levis and paper bag trousers just like these ones.
2. I cannot stop making these cookies, you guys. The only sweetener is a bit of maple syrup and they totally fit in to my current way of eating. Five ingredients, only one bowl required…need I say more?
3. O and I listened to this podcast the other night on scripture memorization and it floored me. I’m so inspired to get back into memorizing scripture regularly and even more inspired to memorize large chunks of the word at a time. O can memorize book after book of the Bible with ease and while I can memorize scripture relatively quickly, I don’t retain if ver long without constant repetition. I’m really encouraged and excited to dig into this!
4. I’m switching to all natural makeup (more on that later) and while I have sifted through many products to find some absolute gems, I still don’t have my full routine down yet. This breakdown of the 100% natural makeup a professional makeup artist used for the Emmy red carpet has me excited to try some new things.
Its my nephew’s first birthday tomorrow so we have a fun few days planned! I hope you enjoy your last weekend of September 2018.
