I came across this Ambitious Kitchen granola bar recipe while hunting on Pinterest and the kids (and the husband) have made it very clear we have a new favorite in the house.
I really enjoy making as many things as possible for the kids myself. We do have quite a few food restrictions, but even with healthy, non-GMO, organic food, sugar can creep way up. As much as I love the ease of throwing a few bars and packaged snacks in my purse, it’s just as quick and easy to make my own and know exactly what’s inside.
These bars are jam packed with nutrients and fully clean ingredients. Chia seeds, quinoa, mashed banana, raisins (We added dried blueberries) almond butter, cinnamon, honey and oats make these a no brainer for me. I gave up sugar for a while and I consider a granola bar a “sweet” so I’ve yet to try them but from the looks of my crew eating them, they’re go-ooood.
Oshiolema was so proud of himself because he did just about every single step in this recipe (minus the few Keogena took care of) and he just brings a smile to my face whenever I think of him in the kitchen. “So what can I help you with, Mommy?!”
I’m savoring this sweet, sweet season of littles on step stools helping me make their snacks. This is the stuff my dreams are made of.
If you make these bars, let me know how you like them! And be sure to get lost in Ambitious Kitchen’s blog like I did. She’s phenomenal.
